Our Past & Present Events
Nov. 2019
Thank you to everyone who came out to our Celebration of Life estate planning event at Grace First Baptist Church in San Antonio, Texas, for free wills and pro bono estate planning advice and services!
Pandemic Pause
For the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, we will pause in-person events and focus instead of virtual events. We’re preparing monthly free Zoom classes across a range of important legal topics, to address the issues that most often come up in people’s lives.
Winter of 2022
Starting this summer, we began fundraising for our Access to Justice Initiative, which will establish a generous legal aid fund for people needing to hire an attorney, and for attorneys who agree to handle cases pro bono or at a low cost.
Summer 2023
We’re pleased to announce that our president, Gurney Pearsall, Esq., has become a certified crisis counselor at Crisis Text Line, and will be providing free crisis counseling to Americans in need as part of the Amicus Curiae Foundation’s mission.
Dec. 2023: Roundtable Event
On December 5, 2023, we’ll be hosting a roundtable for young adults, focusing on financial literacy, financial planning, and estate planning.
May 2023 - Ongoing: Community Fridge
Thanks to a generous ChangeX grant, we established a community fridge in San Antonio on May 15, 2023, full of free, healthy food for anyone in need. Food scarcity and food insecurity are a major contributor to, and exacerbator of, the legal problems in people’s lives.
Apr. 2024 - Ongoing: ATJ Hotline
We’re excited to introduce the Access to Justice Hotline, an online service that connects experienced, practicing attorneys with people in need of low-cost guidance. The Hotline is another stepping stone in our mission to provide low-cost or pro bono legal aid to communities around the United States.
